Job Description POSITION TITLE: Custodial Coordinator
DEPARTMENT: Buildings and Grounds
QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS: A. Education preferred: High School Diploma or equivalent preferred. B. Experience Desired: Three (3) years custodial experience preferred. C. Other Requirements: Regular attendance is essential. Ability to work with minimal supervision.
Excellent driving record. Ability to operate all equipment assigned to the building. Knowledge of
electrical, plumbing, heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) systems. Ability to read and
interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure
manuals. Ability to communicate and follow written and oral direction. Working knowledge of
building materials containing asbestos. Working knowledge of Indoor Air Quality. Working
knowledge of safe work practices. Demonstrate efficient work habits. Demonstrate safe work
habits. Demonstrate basic computer skills.
REPORTS TO: A. Custodial Team Supervisor B. Buildings and Grounds Manager RECEIVES GUIDANCE FROM: Buildings Administration
SUPERVISES: None
BASIC FUNCTION/PURPOSE OF POSITION: Monitor all custodial functions within the facilities assigned. Insure that preventive and daily maintenance
of all equipment is completed. Remain flexible to report to work at the location and shift specified in
accordance with the needs of the department. Maintain facilities in accordance with standards and
procedures of the Buildings and Grounds Division. Perform duties of operation, care, cleaning,
maintenance, safety and security of assigned facilities and site.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES: A. Coordinate with building administration and cleaning team leaders and custodial team supervisor
all building activities, training and schedules for coverage of custodial staff.
B. Remain flexible to support workload and assignment to compensate for employee absences and
emergencies.
C. Order and replenish custodial supplies for the assigned building. Maintain equipment
accountability of assigned equipment.
D. Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on building environment systems, fixtures and
furnishings. Monitor and operate heating, air conditioning, ventilation, water, sewer, electrical
and mechanical building environment systems. Check operation, testing and inspection of fire
suppression system.
E. Sweep, dust, and arrange furniture, empty trash and pencil sharpeners, clean chalk
boards/whiteboards and sets up for activities. Wash walls, woodwork and windows, and clean
and polish metal surfaces. Clean and maintain hard and soft surface floors. Wet mop and spot
clean hard and soft surface floors. Coordinate and assist with cleaning, sanitizing and
deodorizing restrooms and locker rooms.
F. Coordinate and assist in the maintenance of lawns, landscaping, concrete surfaces, blacktop
surfaces and playgrounds.
G. Operate and maintain security systems. Opens and secures building as required.
H. Buildings and Grounds Manager and Custodial Team Supervisor will determine work schedule.
I. Maintain confidentiality regarding school/workplace matters.
J. Monitor and comply with federal, state and district policies and procedures.
K. Perform other duties as assigned.
EVALUATION: Performance of this position will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the board of education's
policy on evaluation for professional personnel
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Twelve (12) month work year, wage and work year as established by the Board of Education
