General Purpose: Responsible for the overall production and operation of the Business Lending Department.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
* Direct daily business lending operations and work as a producing manager, growing and maintaining a personal commercial loan portfolio. May delegate portion of responsibilities, when necessary, but may not delegate overall responsibility for results nor any portion of accountability. Work in conjunction with the Credit Administration Manager to conduct daily operations of the Business Lending Department. Implement and execute all Vice President Business Lending approved decisions.
* Responsible for approving, rejecting, and processing business loan applications; verifying applications for completeness; conducting credit investigations; determining value and status of collateral (if any); establishing a signature limit (if applicable); and documenting business loans as per Credit Union policy and procedures.
* Facilitate business lending by seeking potential clients. Effectively explain Credit Union
* products and services. Responsible for Business Lending staff cultivating and meeting department goals. Cross-sell products and services when appropriate.
* Provide input for the development of department budget consistent with the strategic plan and overall budget. Implement and monitor the budgetary process for the department in conjunction with the Vice President Business Lending.
* Remain current on changes within the legal, regulatory, economic, competitive, and technology environments that may affect the operations function. Implement operations procedures that are in compliance with applicable federal and state regulations.
* Assist the Vice President Business Lending with respect to recommendations for hires, terminations, promotions, transfers, performance appraisals, training and development, and interpretation of credit union rules and policies for department personnel. Conduct all personnel functions in accordance with applicable statutes (e.g., EEO, OSHA, Fair Labor, etc.)
* Conduct financial analysis of services designed to maximize profits and broaden services. Prepare recommendations for the Vice President Business Lending regarding changes in or adjustments of services for analysis and action.
* Establish, maintain, and monitor policies, procedures and internal controls. Read, interpret, review, and comply with all federal and state legislation pertaining to the operations of the Business Lending Department.
* Responsible for monitoring the delinquency of commercial/business loans, including the early-stage collection calls. Assist the Collection Department in review of delinquent accounts, inspections, and review of inventory.
Other Duties/Responsibilities:
* Prepare standardized reports as directed by Management, including, but not limited to, the Quarterly Business Reports and Loan Watch List.
* Provide staff training on business loan functions.
* Perform other duties as may be assigned by the Vice President Business Lending.
Additional Information
Job Knowledge: * Knowledgeable of the fundamentals of the financial industry, including but not limited to, the operation and delivery of commercial lending and financial services. * Demonstrated knowledge of all types of commercial lending, including but not limited to, Small Business Administration (SBA) Programs, Rural Development (RD) Programs, Commercial Real Estate, Construction, Industrial, Equipment and Line of Credit (LOC) loans. * Knowledge of laws and regulations affecting Credit Union operations. * Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization and to outside parties. * Knowledgeable about the organization's policies/procedures and Credit Union's service philosophy. * Ability to write and implement organization's policies/procedures. * Must be able to read and interpret financial reports received from various sources. * Knowledge of the Credit Union's computer systems. * Knowledge of laws and regulations affecting business lending.
